Hi Everyone! I am so excited to be part of the Andy Skinner Blog hop this week. The project I am sharing today is part one focusing on how to create a steampunk frame using Andy’s texture stamps along with Dreamweaver stencils and embossing paste. I created a fun video for this part so grab your favorite beverage and join me!
I love the Andy Skinner texture stamps and have combined stamps from both of his sets. Pairing them with the Dreamweaver stencils and embossing pastes made it so easy to create this steampunk project. I am sharing the frame today and will share the background and owl tomorrow. While I have shared the written instructions, I hope you will take the time to watch my video showing step by step how I completed the frame.

1. Prepare the wood frame with sealer, sand lightly, then wipe with dampened cheese cloth. Basecoat with Neutral Grey + Graphite, (1:1). Stamp the frame with Lamp Black using the “grunge ” stamp from the ASCRS03 Cling Industrial set. Thin Shimmering Silver, Glorious Gold, and Worn penny with just a little water, apply a heavy amount using a slip slap motion randomly around the frame with a large flat brush. Crumble some paper towel and blot the paint to let the texture glow through.
2. Tape the Cogs & Gears stencil onto the upper right hand corner. Using the spreader apply the Silver embossing paste the width of the stencil then pull across the stencil. remove the tape and lift the stencil like opening a book. Clean the stencil and repeat in the lower left corner. Allow to completely dry. Tape the clock and gear stencil into the upper left corner and apply the embossing paste in the same manner. Repeat in the lower right corner. Create a wash of color with Quinachridone Gold and randomly apply the wash over the frame. Stamp over the frame with the crackle stamp from the AS 06 set using Graphite. Below is a close up of the crackle tamp over the embossed gears.
